I know it isn’t the most important thing right now, but have you heard any reactions to Bush’s rather shameless speech exploiting today’s atrocity to encourage his “War on Terror”. To me it was almost as shameless as Sharon’s comments after 9/11 in New York…
Please don’t use this as a page to comment on bush. If you don’t believe that we need to be strong against terrorists then you’re a part of the problem and not a part of the solution. Don’t wait until something blows up in your back yard.
It’s sad to see such carnage and death practically in your own backyard and after come on to sites like these and hear petty arguments,especially about someone like george bush.It’s a time for reflection;a time for honesty,trust and solidarity.Stop quibbling and show a unified front.there is nothing else we can do.
Our hearthfelt condolences to the people of London and the UK. We New Yorkers know how horrible is the feeling brought up by an attack. We hope the people hurt recover soon and those involved in the planning of this monstruosity pay before the courts. Again, our thoughts are with you. I am a U.S. citizen in California reading this blog (and Europhobia) and I must say that even though I detest George Bush and consider him unfit as a leader, I suspended all of that opinion just to listen to the man and what he had to say today. I became aware that I finally understood where he might be coming from in terms of his policies. Prior to today, I just couldn’t fathom his reasoning.
Additonally I was very impressed by the humanness of Tony Blair’s response and in this instance too I suspended my judgment about the British war policies and simply listened to the man’s statements.
For reasons unknown to me, I have been more affected by the terrorist attacks today in London, than I was by 9/11 in my own country.
I feel so very badly for the Londoners, their families and the human toll this has taken today.
As a New Yorker I feel so badly for everyone affected by what happened today in london. We here send you our prayers and hope that we as people of the world can unite to stop all of this. I can sympathize with the shock the londoners must be feeling. It took me hours to wrap my head around 9/11 (days years and still I don’t understand) Words cannot express how sad I am for this to be happening again!
Please know that you are all in our hearts, thoughts and prayers today and in the difficult days to come.
It occurred to me that you may have people who post who have family members in the US that may need help (of any kind) in getting home to London because of today’s tragedy. Please drop a line either here or a post on our blog and let us know if we can be of any assistance. We are in 20 cities across the US and reach into lots of other places as well. I used the Metropolitan, Jubilee and Victoria lines late last night, thus passing through Russell Square and changing lines at King’s Cross. To think these stations are now smouldering after bomb blasts is quite mind-boggling.
Events like this unite the people of a city. Today, London’s united front against terrorism got massively reinforced.
Today, we as citizens of the world, find ourselves yet again in shock and horror of just how ruthless and barabric radical islam and it’s “terrorist army of murderers” has become all around the world. We should be enraged and angry just as my great grand mother was living in London during the nightly bombings from the Nazis in WW2 . She was at first shocked and frightened, then she got angry,very angry and so did Great Britain. It was that anger that helped strengthen and sustain her and all the British citizens endure and survive WW2. We should decide if we are going to be angry, rightfully so, or just stay in a state of shock and play the role of victims. We should stop blaming the victims as well (USA @ UK)and stand together and not bicker about BUSH or BLAIR or any Head of State, we are all potential targets.That is the stark reality. The blame is solely upon the shoulders of Radical Islam and those who desire death not peace.
I live in San Francisco, CA and was on my way to work this morning in a cab when I heard the news. My eyes filled with tears, as I listened to the news. My thoughts and prayers go out to all. Please be safe and tell those people that you care about that you do.

If you happened to watch the recent elections in Lebanon – in which the Shia Hizb-ut-Allah (or ‘Hezbollah’) was a major contender you would have noticed that they ran a number of Christian – yes, Christian – candidates on their party ticket and immediately entered into alliances with Lebanese factions representing other Xtians, Sunni Muslims and non-religious parties. Further such Shia Muslims like Hizb-ut-Allah & Iran have absolutely no love for Sunni Wahhabi extremists like Al Qa’eda, the Taliban or Saudi Arabia. In fact, had you been following events, you would have noticed that Iran actually HELPED the “Great Satan” (US) in Afghanistan against the al-Qa’eda/Taliban forces there.

read the Parsons piece, he seems to think that everyone hates MUSLIMS. He is wrong on that point. Would he hate a communist Chinese man who busted into his flat and murdered one of his family? Then that makes the Chinese bloke a radical murdering son of a bitch. And, If the Chinese bloke whorships Allah as a Muslim and kills because hates or disagrees with Parsons or anyones point of view, then the Chinese bloke is a radical Chinese muslim, not a PEACEFUL Muslim. See the difference? When you murder anyone, you automatically seperate yourself from the rest of society and the world. I do agree with Parsons that the death penalty should be instituted for MURDER and for TERRORISM no matter what colour or creed the manic is. Tolerance with any irrational terror group( like Al-Quieda, IRA) is a fatal mistake. How do you deal with a bully? You fight back right? it is very encouraging to read this thread and see that more are beginning to wake up to what the world is facing in the islamofascists. the anger is much more appropriate than the mourning. it is utter nonsense to ponder “root cause” when it is simply and plainly inhuman evil, which must be met with unrelenting determination and force until this scourge is exterminated.
if i were a member of a group which had members committing atrocities in the name of said group, i would recognise it as my responsibility to make clear my allegiances, and not expect others to correctly presume them.
