Comment Leaderboard is back…

Posted by | Uncategorized | One Comment

Way back in the day, when wibbler.com was an eager little stripling, I made a comment leaderboard to show who was commenting the most. Some of you took to it with aplomb, and so it’s back in all it’s glory, on the right hand side there. Get to the top of the leaderboard, and get a gold star…

Subscribe for automated goodness

Posted by | Uncategorized | 2 Comments

Some people have written in saying that they never get updates any more about new stuff on wibbler.com. Well, I’m afraid the old database of subscribers has bitten the dust, but a new and better Phoenix has risen. Ladies and Gentleman, the Subscribe page will tell you more

P.S. Those that have already signed up to wibbler.com have automatically been subscribed, you lucky beggars…

Donate to a worthy cause

I’m not going to lie and say this was a requested feature – it’s more of a self-imposed begging bowl, if I’m honest. I’ve added a “Make A Donation” button on the sidebar which should be used regularly to avoid disappointment.

Send me some text-based love…

In this day and age, nothing’s free. Which is why my favourite bit on this site at the moment is nestling down the bottom of the sidebar. It’s called “Text My Phone!” and guess what it does? Yes, you’re right. And it’s completely free…

So there you go – wibbler.com now saves you money. I am too good to you…

UPDATE: Alright wiseguys. After three rude messages and 20 spam messages, I’ve now restricted it to members only. If you’re not a member, you can register here or on the right hand sidebar. It’s still free after that, though…

New day, new design!

Well, it’s nearly there, folks. a new version of wibbler.com is born (Version 8, if my memory is up to stratch 😉 ), and this time I’ve defected – after long being a champion of Movable Type, I’ve moved over to WordPress for the site backend, as it were. Why? Well, while there have been many enhancements in WordPress recently, there have been none in Movable Type. My ISP has been getting numerous errors in their logs with the Movable Type plugins, and frankly it was all getting a bit clunky. There are a few nooks and crannies to fix, but bear with me while I knock them up…

Mariaaaaaaa, you’ve got to see her…

Looking through the logs over the last month, it seems that there is one thing that visitors are fruitlessly looking for on this site. No, not the insane conversation Jac and I had on Messenger (or Melinda, as we like to call it) four years ago. Not even the two most popular posts of all time – “Friend on Young Posh and Loaded” and “The Boy Whose Skin Fell Off” (just look at the comments on those critters) – can dislodge the top search item of all time. The word that drives more traffic than anything to this site is… wait for it… “sharapova”. Specifically Maria Sharapova, a photo of whom used to hang in my Funny Files section but had to be moved because of bandwidth costs. So, for all those Maria appreciators, let me tell you that it’s currently sitting in the Photos section of the Fun Media Files section. Enjoy, you frisky visitors.

Er… hello.

Eh? What was that wooshing sound? Oh, I see. It was almost a FULL MONTH with no posts. As usual when this kind of thing happens, I could list all the various things that have conspired to foil posting anything of relevance – but on this occasion I think I’ll just tell you that in the next few days I’ll be retro-adding some posts on the more interesting things that have happened, involving Top of The Pops, marriage, resignation, drugs, technology and (as ever) Boris Johnson. Just a small wait, eager webwatchers…

Subscriptions Are Go

Posted by | Uncategorized | No Comments

The eagle-eyed amongst you may notice that a new feature has bounded onto wibbler.com – Subscriptions. If you want to subscribe to the blog, there’s a little form on the left of the page, just below Search. And if you’d like to be kept up to date with individual entries, there’s a link under each one on the main page, and a form at the bottom of each entry page.
There, I really look after you…
